At 123.ie giving better a try is what we do everyday but no one personifies this more than brand ambassador Ciara Mageean. The two-time Olympian produce a sensational performance recently at the Diamond League in Monaco in what was a mile race like no other with Faith Kipyegon smashing the World Record and Ciara stormed to an incredible second place finish clocking a time of 4.14.58 to knock nearly three seconds off Sonia O’Sullivan’s best for the distance! The race itself broken 5 records and placed Ciara in 5th in the all-time list for 1 mile.

Ciara is no stranger to national record currently holding four:

•    800m
•    1000m
•    Mile
•    1500m

It looks set that 2023 could be another impressive year for the City of Lisburn athlete who had a stellar 2022 season which saw her claim silver at the Commonwealth Games and at the European Championships in Munich

But her best performance of her career to date was breaking Sonia O’Sullivan’s Irish 1500m record on her way to victory at the Diamond League in Brussels. Mageean’s time carved more than two seconds off O’Sullivan’s previous record of 3:58.85 set in 1995, and it brought her home ahead of European champion and Olympic silver medallist Laura Muir of Britain.
