Who needs Mortgage Protection?
Yes! If you have a mortgage, you’ll need mortgage protection. In most cases, your lender will require you to have a policy in place before they approve your mortgage.
What Does Mortgage Protection Cover?
Your policy will pay off your mortgage if you pass away during the term of your plan. You can choose from:

Single Cover – Pays the outstanding mortgage balance if you pass away during the policy term.

Joint Cover – Covers both you and your partner, paying off the mortgage if either of you passes away during the term. This payment is made once only.

How long does it take for a claim to be settled?
The time it takes to settle a claim depends on the details of your case. Every claim is different, and some take longer than others. But you can help speed things up by:
- Giving us all the information we need when you make your claim
- Staying in touch with your claims handler
- Sending any requested documents as soon as possible

What is Life Insurance?
Life insurance provides a lump-sum payment to your family if you pass away within the policy term (term insurance). They can use this money for expenses like mortgages or bills, offering vital financial support.

What is Mortgage Protection?
Mortgage Protection is a Life Insurance policy designed to clear your outstanding mortgage balance if you pass away during the mortgage term.
It's typically assigned to your lender and reduces as you repay your mortgage, provided repayments remain current and interest rates don't significantly exceed assumptions.
How can I pay for my insurance?
You can pay for your 123.ie policy online or over the phone using a debit or credit card. If you'd rather spread the cost, set up a direct debit online or by phone.
Direct debit setup and management via the My123 portal is only available for Car Insurance and Home Insurance policies only. You can use it to:
- Set up a new direct debit
- Pay any arrears
- Change bank details
- Choose a preferred payment date
- For 123GO, some features (e.g. policy amendments) aren’t yet live in My123.
If you hold another product (Van, Travel, Health or Life), you’ll need to arrange direct debit or card payments by calling our Customer Care team.

How do I pay my direct debit arrears?
If your direct debit has failed, easily settle your payment online via My123 using a
credit or debit card. Please note that we can't accept payments by cheque, bank draft, or postal order.

What if I want to cancel the policy?
To cancel your policy, submit your request to 123.ie by:

You can also mail your cancellation request via Post to - 123.ie, RSA House, Dundrum Town Centre, Sandyford Road, Dundrum, Dublin 16, D16FC92.
If you've received your insurance certificate and disc, please destroy them. Be aware that a cancellation fee may also apply.
When you cancel at any time, we’ll refund the unused portion of your premium on a pro‑rata basis, less any fixed‑expense deduction. A cancellation fee may also apply.
