Travel Insurance - My Policy Cover

Can I cancel my trip for any reason and get all my money back?

No, 123.ie Travel Insurance only covers cancellations for specific unforeseen events, such as illness, injury, or death affecting you, your travelling companion, or a relative.

Cancellations due to change of mind, business commitments, or pre-existing medical conditions are not covered.

For full details on covered cancellation reasons and exclusions, refer to your policy pack or see: Can I cancel my trip and get a full refund?.

What do you mean by a “pre-existing condition”?

A pre-existing condition is any medical issue that you, or someone your travel plans depend on—like a family member or business associate—already knew about before buying your travel insurance.

It can be:

  • An illness you've had treatment or advice for within the last 2 years.
  • A heart, cardiovascular, or related condition that you've ever experienced, even if it was a long time ago.

If your health situation changes after purchasing the policy but before your trip starts, please get in touch with us immediately at 091 501 677. It's really important that we know, so we can confirm your cover.

For full info on what's covered and what isn't—including exclusions and conditions—check your policy booklet, or have a look online at our Policy Documents.

What is my Policy Excess?

I got an error when buying online, am I covered?

If your payment to 123.ie goes through successfully, your cover kicks off from the start date and time you selected. You’ll see a confirmation screen showing the amount paid and thanking you for your purchase.

But if you hit an error before entering your card details, your policy isn’t active. For more info on payment errors and what they mean for your cover, see I got an error while buying insurance—am I covered?.

What is the maximum length of time a Single Trip policy covers?

Must children be accompanied by their parents to be covered under a travel policy?

No. Children under 18 can travel without their parents and still be covered—so long as they're accompanied by a relative, guardian, or someone with legal responsibility for them.

At 123.ie, we make Travel Insurance simple, even when you’re planning trips for young travellers. If you need help or want to double-check your cover, contact us or review your policy documents for more details.

Do I have to buy travel insurance at any specific time?

To make the most of your cover, it’s best to buy Travel Insurance as soon as you book your trip. That way, you’re protected if something unexpected happens before you go. If you buy a travel policy after something has already happened, you won’t be covered for that event.

Our Travel Insurance covers you to travel anywhere in the world—provided the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the World Health Organisation (WHO), or a similar body has not advised against ‘all’ or ‘all but essential travel’ to your destination at the time your trip begins.

To see exactly what’s included refer to our policy documents.

Does my policy cover me if I am travelling on business?
