January is the perfect time to recharge and be that better version of you, at 123.ie we are always striving for better! As a proud sponsor of Athletics Ireland, we are we are delighted to support #Runuary helping runners both seasoned and new to be the best they can be this January and beyond! Complete your first or fastest 5K with the help and support of coaches including Runuary head coach Irene Clark.

Irene has been coaching athletes for many years and got involved in coaching athletics through her local club West Waterford Athletics Club who are a grassroots club that genuinely welcomes athletes of all levels and abilities from those who are training for their first race to those who swear the next race is their last!

“I got involved in Runuary as I believe that running can be for everyone and initiatives like this are a great steppingstone and a way to dip your running toe into the water. Once your toe is in the water the possibilities are endless”

We asked Irene what her 1,2,3 tips would be to set yourself up for a lifetime of running:

  1. Set a goal - goal setting is a huge motivation and will keep you on track, maybe there is a particular race you are training for or a new time you want to hit. Having a goal will make all of them sessions so much easier and you have something to focus on.
  2. Have a plan - This will get you from where you are to where you want to be, having a plan allows you to stay on track and hit that goal that you have set, its important that you have a plan that works for you and is realistic.
  3. Do it for yourself -Try not to compare yourself with others or to your old running self. Just start where you are and take one run at a time don’t have high expectations, just be the best you can be.

Irene echoes “Runuary will give you the goal and the plan. All you need to do is have no expectations, join in and take it one run at a time”

Its not too late to join #Runuary, complete your 5K on January 28th virtually around Ireland. You can also join our Facebook Group and follow Irene’s Runuary plan and more tips follow Irene on Instagram menopause_coach_irene or visit www.menopausecoach.ie
