I want to insure a previously written off vehicle?
At 123.ie, we don’t provide Car Insurance for previously written-off vehicles if you’re a new customer. This applies to vehicles deemed beyond economical repair, where fixing the damage would have cost more than the car’s market value before the incident.
What if I'm an existing 123.ie customer and want to transfer my insurance to a previously written-off vehicle?
If you already have a policy with us and want to transfer your cover to a vehicle that was previously written off, we may consider this request depending on the write-off category. Vehicles classified as ‘end of life’ can’t be insured, even if they’ve been repaired.
What do I need if my vehicle was written off but has been repaired?
If your vehicle was deemed beyond economic repair but has since been restored to a roadworthy condition and passed the National Car Test (NCT), you’ll need to provide:
-
A valid NCT certificate confirming roadworthiness
-
An engineer’s report detailing the repairs
These documents must be reviewed before we can confirm coverage.
