How do I add a driver to my policy?

At 123.ie, adding a driver to your Car or Van insurance is straightforward. You have two options for adding drivers:

1. Permanent vs Temporary Addition

  • Permanent - Adds a driver up to your policy's next renewal date.
  • Temporary - Adds a driver for a maximum of 37 days within the policy year. (Note: A minimum premium applies to temporary additions.)

2. How to Add a Driver

There’s 2 separate ways to add a driver depending on your policy.

Car Insurance

The quickest way is to go online via My123 Portal:

  • Log into your My123 account to see if your policy supports online driver additions.
  • If eligible, follow instructions and enter the required details.

Note: Some driver requests, especially for younger or high-risk individuals, may require manual approval. If your request can't be processed online, contact our Customer Care Team.

You can also do it by phone, simply call our Customer Care Team at 01 524 6000.

Van Insurance

Adding a driver to your Van Insurance policy can be done by phone only. Simply call 01 241 8585 to add drivers permanently during your policy year.

Yes. Your premium may increase or decrease based on:

  • Driving History - Drivers with clean records generally have minimal impact.
  • Claims or Penalty Points - Can result in higher premiums.

Depending on these factors, we might be unable to provide cover.

When does the change take effect?

Your change will take effect immediately or from the date and time you choose. Once processed, you'll receive confirmation.
