Life doesn’t always line up perfectly, so we've made changing your policy start date as straightforward as possible. The steps vary slightly depending on whether you have Car, Home, Travel, or Van Insurance.
How do I update my Car Insurance start date?
To adjust the start date for your Car Insurance policy, simply contact our Customer Care team on 01 524 6029.
We can make this change provided:
- You've supplied proof of your no-claim discount or named driving experience.
- No other changes have already been made to your policy.
- The new start date isn't set to a past date - we can't backdate cover.
What's needed to change my Home Insurance start date?
Changing your Home Insurance start date is quick and easy—just reach out to Customer Care on 01 524 6029.
Keep in mind:
- You must not have previously amended the policy.
- Similar to car insurance, we can't backdate your cover to a past date.
How can I amend my Travel Insurance start date?
If your trip plans shift and you need to adjust the start date of your Travel Insurance, please call our Travel team directly at 091 501 677 or send an email to Info@123.ie.
A few conditions apply here too:
- You must request the change within the 14-day cooling-off period.
- Your trip hasn’t yet started.
- No claims have been made on the policy.
If you’re past the cooling-off period, you’ll need to cancel your current policy and purchase a new one with the revised dates.
How do I update my Van Insurance start date?
We believe in keeping things simple, so if you need to adjust the start date on your Van Insurance policy, just give our Van Customer Care team a call on 01 241 8585 or send an email to info@123.ie. We’ll do our best to find a new date that suits you.
A few important points before you ring:

Much like our other insurance policies, we can’t shift your policy start date to any date that’s already passed.

You can’t update your policy start date if you’ve already amended it. Once a policy start date is in place, that’s the one we’ll stick with.
